Life in Nairobi

This is just a small, small, small part of the slum, Kibera. Most houses are constructed with mud and zine roof. Cross the small wooden bridge and turn right, is my school, St. Aloysius Gozanga Secondary School.

The staff room of my school. Just a simple room where 8 teachers stay. They are Sister Luciana and Ms Jill Juma. They help me a lot to adjust myself in Nairobi.

This is a photo of the Catechism Class in my school. We have gathering every Saturday from 11:00 to 1:00pm. The students are having a role play. They are acting the scene when Jesus, at the age of 12 years old, was found in the temple.

The Skill Club of the school is having an outing. We went to visit an art gallery. The students are having some painting practises there. This kind of activities help the students to build up their self confidence and develop their creativity.

This is the Chapel inside Hekema, the Seminary of Jesuits in Nairobi. She is Sister Rita Chung, a Canossian Sister from Hong Kong. She is going to serve in Sudan.

The front gate of Tumaini Center where I am staying now. She is Sister Albina who is the Sister in charge of the center.

The Chapel inside Tumaini Center. We have a mass here everyday (except Sunday). Gazing at the black Jesus on the cross, the image of Christ becomes more and more concrete.

Stephanie (left) is now working at a school for orphans in the slum area in Nairobi, Kenya. She and her colleagues appear on the above photo.

The school is run by the Society of Jesus. The pupils are orphans whose parents died of AIDS.

Stephanie and a sister is visiting the slum.
